"My" Diaper Bag?
Wait...
That kinda sounds like I have a bag for my diapers....Weird!
NO, NO....
Not my diapers. My bag.
My bag FOR diapers that belong to my child.
ANYWAY, now that that is all clear...
I want to share 10 items I carry in my bag.
I am sure some items will be taken out and others added as Jael grows but this is what I have found to be diaper bag essentials for a 0-3 month old.
Here we go...
1. Changing Pad
You never know where you may need to change the baby.
2. Diapers
That is kind of a "NO, duh"... but really the emphases is on the PLURAL!! Keep a good size stack of diapers in your bag!
3. Wipes
Again, heavy on the plural! Trust me, you do NOT want to run out! When Jael was just a couple weeks old we were going on a trip, I grabbed a pack of wipes I was sure would be enough. On the last day of our trip we realized there were only 2 wipes left. Seeing there was nowhere to buy more, all we could do was tare them in half. An hour from home we used the last half of a wipe. How easy would it have been to throw in more wipes! I learned my lesson and now I actually carry 2 packs of wipes in my bag. It never hurts!
4. Baby Powder
We have used baby powder almost every time we change Jael and so far NO diaper rash!!
5. An Extra Outfit
ALWAYS be prepared for those diaper blow-outs!! I pack a footsy baby suet so that I don't have to pack a onesie, pants, and socks.
6. Blanks/Cover-ups
More than likely you will be nursing your baby while you are away from the house. I have not forgotten a cover-up blanket yet...I think because I'm so paranoid that I will. I keep an extra blanket on hand to wrap her up in if there is an unexpected chill or just for cuddling when she gets sleepy.
7. Burp-cloth
For spit up OR drool.
8. Binky
Jael has been sucking on her hands more and more but I still keep her binky handy!
9. Extra Nursing Pads
You never know...and you don't want to not have them when you need them!
10. Water Bottle and Snacks
These are for you! Sometimes your outing may take longer than expected and you will be glad for a little protein to give you a needed boost!
Always Be Prepared!
