HANDS FREE!
I love holding my baby!
...but sometimes dishes call and unfortunately, dinner does not makes itself.
What could be better than holding your baby AND having two hands free?
Yep, I've made supper one handed as well as MANY other things...
BUT having 2 is SO much faster!
Whoever invented baby carriers was a genius!
Actually, the credit must be shared because there has been quite a variety of baby carriers invented over the years.
I have two different designs and want to take a few minutes to share with you why I like both!
A friend of mine (mother of 6 amazing kids) gave me her Baby Hawk Carrier. My mother gave me a Ergobaby carrier that she loved when my two youngest siblings were first adopted!
Pictured Above: Ergobaby on Left, Baby Hawk on Right
The Baby Hawk has ties and the Ergo has clips. Making the Ergo a lot easier to get on and off.
I can get Jael a lot closer to my body in the Baby Hawk so I like to where it when I'm working around the house. However, when I go run errands with the baby I take the Ergo because it is a lot faster to get her in and out between stops.
The straps are a lot more substantial on the Ergo compared to the Baby Hawk and the waist band really supports the babies weight in your hips. For walk or Hiking with baby, the Ergo is going to be more comfortable on the long halls.
The Ergo seems like it is a bit more man-friendly. If your husband is going to be carrying the baby, he would probably prefer the Ergo over the Baby Hawk.
The Ergo has a head cover for head support when the baby falls asleep.
I have had great success in taking off both of these carriers when baby is asleep and laying her down without her waking up!
The Ergo and Baby Hawk can be warn in front or back but the Ergo can also be warn on the hip! I have not tried the hip position yet because Jael is still too little but I'm sure I'll use it a lot when she is able!
The Baby Hawk is not as bulky as the Ergo so it is convenient to roll it up small and stuff in the diaper bag for just-in-case situations.
The Ergo has a zippered pouch on the front; stash an extra diaper for the baby or a power bar for you. Again, this is a plus for the long halls.
The Ergo has a lot of optional accessories you can purchase for your comfort and convenience such as the infant insert, weather cover, teething covers to slip over the straps and swaddlers. As well as a forward facing carrier. I have not used any of these extra products so I can't vouch for them. There is so much STUFF you can get...I prefer to keep my life simple and stick with the basics!
For our fashion preferences, both the Ergo and Baby Hawk come in a variety of colors and patterns.
The Ergo is a bit more expensive than the Baby Hawk but understandably so.
